I figured I would go with them, as it seemed that they gave free gmail (with your custom domain with the purchase)Now it seems they want to charge $5 a month Any ideas?
Google Domains is $12 per year for a domain. You probably have Google Apps.Cancel your apps and just leave your domains.
but if he wants gmail for his domain, that's google apps
Google Apps for Domains was the free version, which is now unavailable for new signups. The paid version is Google Apps for Work, which is $5/month or $50/year per user.
Right, which is not what i thought when i signed up. Can i transfer it out to another provider for email? 1&1 godaddy etc...?
You can transfer anytime to another provider, you won't need to pay a fee or for another year as your yearly domain was paid for already.( it transfers )
I think for that price (actually $4.88) go with Microsoft Exchange
Office 365 is corporate minded but for a small business there's nothing wrong with google apps unless you're thinking so far in advance and don't want to deal with a migration if the business becomes that bigBTW its a flat $5 for Office 365
I signed up for Zoho, thanks guys!
Great to hear, I also recently learned about a company selling grandfathered gapps accounts for $30 I actually just made an order with them will report how it goes
