I remember on my old phone even after Verizon unlocked it it didn't work with domestic GSM carriers only in Canada etc.

They offer for another $1.00 that your phone can ring on the rented Sim. The sim I got worked great.
+1, you have VZW forward your calls to the American number associated with the sim. I also got the Verizon Messages app and was able to continue texting with everyone as normal.

The new upgrade offers from verizon are crazy. I can no longer upgrade for somewhere between $50 and $200, I now pay the full price of the phone over 2 years plus a upgrade fee.
For me, I saved when they did this because my plan become a whole lot cheaper. Maybe check if you can switch to better plan.. also if you ask they will usually waive upgrade fee for good customer!

A friend of mine got a new phone from the insurance after his phone broke, now he's trying to activate the new phone, he took out his old sim and placed it in his new phn, And called to activate but no luck, is there any humans who work for verizon past 11pm?
Or any tricks to activate a phone? Or he's going to have to wait for the morning?

He can try their twitter support account - 24/7. And he can try activating online in his account under "Activate or Switch device"

Roaming support number is usually most responsive

Any way around the new 500mb limit on the $10/day TravelPass? Turning into a huge headache

I see that Verizon has $30/month unlimited talk & text plan for a basic phone. Never saw that before. Is that new?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

Not really new, at least a year or two.

This is only in the last month or two.
And to answer the other question there is no way around it unless you take off travelpass and pay per mb which is crazy expensive

Just saw in my Verizon app something called verizon selects if u enroll u get 1 free gb of data a month wanted to know if anyone has enrolled and any opinions if it is worth it ...here are the terms and conditions -"Verizon Selects personalizes the ads and content you see across your devices using information about your web browsing, app usage, device location, use of Verizon services and other information about you (such as your postal/email addresses, demographics, and interests). This program shares information with Oath(formed by the combination of AOL and Yahoo). Verizon protects your information and does not share information that identifies you personally outside of Verizon other than with vendors and partners who work for us. You can change your choice at any time. Your choice here doesn't affect any of your other Verizon services.
You can learn more by viewing the full participation agreement and visiting the Verizon Select's FAQs page.

I don't enroll in it. It takes away some privacy and I believe it only gives you an extra GB for one month - not life. But that still may be worth it to you if you're going over and can save $15. You maybe can get it on each line and maybe can cancel after getting the free GB..

How can I disable receiving a text every time I get a voice mail? I tried what I found via Google, to no avail.  :(
Thanks.

Sounds like you're subscribed to the VZW voicemail to text. I think it even costs. Call them and ask to go off it...
