Are charity orginizations wasting their money on mailing???
« on: December 03, 2015, 08:08:59 PM »
I've done some work for a tzedaka organization at one point and got to see first hand how much money goes to waist on these mailings....we have to put a stop to them! On a typical day I get 5 mailings which all get thrown out and so do many other people. Orginizations have to realize not to spend $10,000 on a mailing only to get back $15,000 which essentialy means 2/3rds of your donation is going towards these mailings!

I don't know if this is how every organization works but this is how it seems to me.

Isn't that $5,000 they wouldn't get otherwise?

Yes but it sucks for the guy who gives $100 and only $33 reaches the org and then other expenses have to be paid before finally $20 goes to help the poor person

don't organizations get the mailings printed in china for cheap and sent for free to every address in the USA because of being subsidized by government?

I think most organizations make money by selling the names of the donors, so when giving $100, the org makes more than just $33.
But this causes more organizations to spend more on mailings.
And the world turns.
