IF YOUR OBI NEEDS UPDATES SEE HERE

See here for some good tutorials on setting up the Obi.

You can switch your current landline number into a Google Voice account to retain your phone number on a free Obi phone line.
To port your landline to GV:
  • Get ahold of an old Page Plus or Verizon cell phone that isn't being used. Port your existing landline to Page Plus for free through their website.
  • Fill out the port form and put in your landline number and the old PP cell phone's ESN or MEID number (from under the battery) and wait a couple of days for it to go through. You will know that the port is complete, when dialing your landline rings on the cell phone.
  • Once the account is active, buy $10 worth of minutes from PagePlus in order to receive the verification call from GV.
  • Now you can initiate the GV port. It's a good idea to open a new Gmail account. You can then setup all emails that come to that account (all the voicemails notifications) to be forwarded to your main Gmail account. Login to GV from the new account and port in your number. It will cost $20, and you will get an email when the port to GV is complete.
Using the above method will only have incoming Caller ID numbers, not names. If you want names as well, follow these steps:
  • Go to https://www.callcentric.com/, click Products, then click the yellow Get A Number button next to Free Phone Number.
  • Use the tool on the left to pick an area code, then order the number. It doesnít have to be something memorable, because no one will ever have to dial it.
  • When it asks if youíre in US/Canada, either select Yes to use their E911 service, or No if you want to use something else. Callcentric setup is free, plus $1.50/mo if you want E911 services. See below for more details.
  • After you receive a confirmation email from Callcentric with your new account info, go to obitalk.com, and log into your Obi. Click SP2, scroll down to OBiTALK Compatible Service Providers, then click Next. Follow the prompts to link your Callcentric account. In the box that says Callcentric Number, enter the 1777 number you got in the email. Uncheck Primary Line for Outgoing Calls and 911.
  • Open Google Voice, go into Settings, and add a forwarding phone. Enter the real phone number you got in the email from Callcentric. Google will call it to confirm; it should ring on your Obi. Answer it and enter the code shown by GV.
  • Uncheck forward to Google Chat.
  • Log into your Callcentric account. Click Preferences. Under General, enable Caller ID with name (Inbound calls). (You can also change the maximum call duration, and unlist yourself from the directory).
or this for a $5 one time fee.

If youíre not using Callcentric, you have to set up SP3 in Obi settings to point to your E911 providerís account.
E911 providers:
Callcentric$18/year ($1.50/mo) + $1.50 setup
Anveo$15/year
http://www.gv911.com/$12/year
http://www.bulkvs.com/e911.html$8.64/year ($0.72/mo)

If you want the SP2 to ring like the standard US ringtone:
go to obi expert config, then to voice service, select sp2, and change it to this:
X_ServProvProfile B
X_RingProfile   A
X_CodecProfile   A

On its own, no. There are ways to do it for some fee through different carriers, see details in Wiki above this thread.
The Caller ID part is free. The E911 part costs money, and you don't have to set that up.

I set up optimum wifi through a netgear wifi extender. Can I use the obi through connecting it to the wedding di extender?

after trying a few things to get my OBi100 to work again i gave in and bought the OBi200 a few weeks ago when it was on sale for $32.

i just got around to setting it up tonight and after i finished i decided to give my OBi100 another shot just for the hell of it. AND IT WORKED! for both in/out calls.

Now i have working OBi in my house. what a waste.

This is what i did:

I just used your step by step and it still worked for me.

Thank you.

This is after i had just bought and setup my new Obi-200 i decided to give the 100 another try.

This is what i did:
i followed instructions from https://www.timothyhoogland.com/2016/06/how-to-fix-obi-100-and-obi-110-not-connecting-to-google-voice/
(which did NOT work for me a month ago)

I deleted the obi100 from my Obi account,
reset the actual OBI box using a pin,
dialed ***1 to get my IP, (btw i tried this a few weeks ago and it did not give me my IP. that's why i bought the Obi-200 )
downloaded the software from above link and updated the software & rebooted.
It then brought me to a screen saying the OBi100 is no longer supported and just linked me to amazon for newer devices whenever i tried to click anything to set up SP1 with google voice.
HOWEVER on the left side bar under "OBi Dashboard" i just clicked "add device" and it brought me to http://www.obihai.com/tutorial/ngvtutorial2 and setup from there went flawlessly

note: it works perfectly but it still says on my account "The OBi100 and OBi110 has reached it's end of life (EOL) status and are no longer supported.
Please upgrade to a more recent OBi device to receive support."

I did that too, then it stopped working two days later, so now I'm with my obi 200 for $32 too.

I have the Obi202 set up with GV and CallCentric for incoming (to get caller ID). Lately, incoming calls have been severely delayed. GV also forwards to wife's cell phone so I know when the calls are supposed to be coming in. Turning off CC and setting incoming calls to ring GV on the Obi fixes it.
Any ideas?

I've had the same thing for a while, but it's on and off.

I'm trying to get my optimum landline transfered to a tmobile prepaid line, and tmobile told me that I need a pin from optimum, but optimum told me there is no pin - I've called tmobile numerous times, but I'm still having trouble - any advice?
