Capital One point program 2 points per buck spent
« on: August 02, 2011, 11:39:14 PM »
I just ordered a Capital One Venture Visa card. I get 25,000 points when I spend 1000 bucks. The first year fee is waved. However, the main reason I got it is because it gives 2 points per dollar spent. I dont know of any card that does that.

Are these points good? Does anyone know what they sell for and can they be used for flights?

Any info is appreciated

It is true, no other card gives you two capital one points.

A few cards give you two actual pennies per dollar.  Some give 1.25 airline miles per dollar.  Some give 6 hotel points per dollar.

Explore the rewards portal.  It is pretty flexible in applying points to anything remotely related to travel.

The best value for c1 points is usually to redeem for previously purchased travel; charge travel expenses to your venture card and then get a statement credit for 1cent per point.

2 points per buck is great if you redeem for economy travel.
If you want to use your miles/points for more aspirational awards (business/first class or 5 start hotels) then regular airline miles and hotel points will go wayyyyyyyy farther than just 2 points per buck.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.
