yes, for the past year, I got a 5,000 or 6,000 MR bonus for downgrading a business platinum/gold card to green. Even done this several times and still got bonus.
Why on earth would Amex give someone a bonus for downgrading a card?
Probably part of a retention offer
There's a DDF thread, DDMS posts, been in DDS...
They review all bonuses on different cards? Or all bonuses on the same card? I.E. Double dipping on the same card.
Has anyone ever gone through a review via the "membership rewards assistance team" (or a similar name) where they do a full review of all bonuses you ever got with Amex & the computer spits out all the duplicate bonuses? Please chime in if yes. Sources tell me there is a new system in place (I can confirm this) and this can happen & be triggered by downgrading cards to green or closing cards right after getting the bonus.
The system reviews all (double +) bonuses in your history with amex & it spits out to the rep all the info.
I think it just spits out all activity and bonus activity and they can easily sort by product and *tada* see the dupes.
Well not all double bonuses are illegal... Let's say you get a new business card every 12 months, that's fine according to their own terms.
correct but all you need is for them to determine youre "gaming" their system & youre gone. you can gives excuses until tomorrow & might even be right!
you cancelled via chat? When did the team get in touch with you
gone as in shutdown, no chance?
