The CDC is more biased to say that MIA is safe than a foreign country even if the known facts are identical.

Do you really think your doctor is closely familiar with the specific cases of Zika in certain countries any more than parroting back what the CDC says ?
yes I do think that a good doctor would do more than a quick google search and will do his due diligence and advise you how to avoid getting infected. At least that has been my experience with my doctor

Was planning on going to Thailand in mid-March but I see the cdc says it has a risk of Zika..although I know plenty of people who've gone recently... Anyone have research on it?

I would like to travel to the bahamas.  The local health ministry says that there hasnt been a new case of zika in over a year. But the cdc still has it on their website. Should i be concerned?

P.s. if your answer is ask your doctor then dont even bother responding.
Bahamas is off the CDC list. Although I don't understand why it doesn't have the purple circle indicating it once had zika.

Is Zika still active? Is there a difference between Asia and South America? Are the big cities like São Paulo and rio dangerous as well?

The info online is kind of confusing. From one hand the cdc still says that it exists but from the other hand there’s nothing about Zika online from the past year and half. Also what do the Jewish communities in Brazil do about it?

Any input will be appreciated

I don't know what being Jewish has anything to do with it. But I always wondered this about Zika. Everyone stays away for those countries but it's not like everyone moved out and are not having kids anymore

To not transmit zika you need to use a condom which the jewish community has an issue with, and also jewish families tend to have more children so its not like they will wait 7 years for zika to go away vs others will for the most part just hold off on having children for now

Same thing people in Miami did, they lived with the risk. It's different than traveling somewhere.

Also in places like Puerto Rico with high Zika rates there's a good chance most people already got Zika and now have immunity. That's fine for the locals, but mosquitoes can still transmit.

Bottom line, ask your Dr.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

makes sense. I was just curious I obviously wouldn't risk it.
