Assuming its not someone that has been recommended by family and friends and not the local chabad family. Would you only leave them for a couple hours? What about a full day?

How old is the child?
That may make a difference to some people.
As for me I can't ever see myself agreeing to that.

Among other precautions, have a Nanny cam and show the sitter that child must always be visible.

I was curious about this as well.  Although i never left my child with a hotel babysitter, i would have no problem. The hotels that i inquired about babysitting have such strict rules. One hotel said that if you want, the sitter will sit in the lobby the whole time so she will be in full view. And others had other rules. Not every person in third world countries are kidnappers. MY WIFE TOTALLY DISAGREES WITH MY OPINION ;D

I disagree also
Why take the chance? Even if 99% of the time it's ok, I wouldn't leave them. Not even for concerns about kidnapping, but I wouldn't trust them to take care of my kid.

The hotel is open for 20 years(or whatever) and they say they never had an incident. The hotel i am referring to is a ritz. I believe that they have a standard which they would not compromise on, So they take all precautions

I left my baby with a babysitter in LM CNX 2 times. I only did this after I spoke to 2 other people (1 ddfer) and felt more comfortable about it. I also made sure the babysitters come 15 mins before we left so I can tell them exactly what to do and get a feeling for them. I told them no matter what that they cannot leave my room or to let anyone in. The hotel arranged these babysitters thru a professional company and the babysitters were very knowledgable and kind. One even wrote down on her iPad in detail what she did with my baby and when she changed my babies diaper. And by the way, my wife was more chilled about it then I was. I was the nervous one. B"h everything worked out perfectly.

Depending on the girl. Depending on age of kid. And depending for how long. Then potentially yes.

Not everyone is bad. But some people are incompetent. And not everyone is incompetent either. But I just don't feel it's worth it IMO.  Chances are in many places that it would be just fine. I just don't feel it's worth it to take the chance.

In your own house you could have cams set up & have someone (neighbor etc.) there at a moments notice should the need arise.

But its an option & the bs knows that. And she knows that you, a family member, or a neighbor could walk in any time unannounced.

you have the same thing in a foreign country. I figured most people would be against it, im just trying to see if there is much substance behind the thought process

In a foreign place chances are you're going away for longer periods of time & you can't really tell her neighbors to check up on her.

Your neighbor whom you know is very different than a stranger in a foreign country.
