December 2011/January 2012 Trip Recommendations.
« on: March 14, 2011, 11:38:47 AM »
Ok my wife and I are going to Rome, Venice and Paris in a week. Pesach=miami. Then we have Vegas lined up in May. Being that I love planning vacations (and I'm sure there are many enthusiasts with me on this), I would like to hear recommendations for a nice getaway this upcoming winter season. Now to somewhat narrow my destinations I have 2 $500 Continental vouchers that I'd like to use, maybe open two Hyatt AmEx carsds for the stay, and/or opening two Hilton AmEx surpass wouldn't be off the table either. Lets hear what some fellow DansDeals members can recommend.
Hawaii? Cancun? Caribbean? Cayman?

if you have a week you can probably do hawaii, cancun and the carribean. i would save cayman for a different time. it would be too difficult to squeeze it in imho

While that would definitely be a nice vacation, I'm aiming towards doing one of them right as opposed to visiting all of them in the "yotze" way.

Well then moish must be a really funny guy. But it's hard to hear the persons tone through a forum.

Absolutely.
Depart Sunday, arrive Sunday night, spend 4 nights on the island of your choice, fly back Thursday night, arrive home Friday morning.

Hard to say. Worth it is relative. If you are going coach it could be tough, but it is beautiful. If you are only going sun - thur then maybe you should do something closer to home. Cancun , carribean, are both nice and loser , but Hawaii is on a whole other level. And as Dan has posted about this before he will tell you to go for it but to each their own.
Edit and he has posted it!

Hmmm sounding good. So Dan can I open two cards and get 4 free nights from Hyatt? Stay at Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort and Spa (Poipu, HI)? Would I need to change rooms or can I do 2 and 2 back to back? Also what would you estimate doing the "Island right" in terms of activities etc would cost? $200 a day?

4 nights in Kauai is perfect.  The Grand Hyatt is one of my absolute favorites.
They would let you stay in the same room even with 2 free nights from 2 accounts.

You can easily enjoy the beauty of Kauai for just the cost of a rental car, or better yet a convertible or 4WD.
Of course there are tons of paid activities as well, the sky is the limit.  But $200/day should be plenty.

Well that settles it for me! Thanks!! We will start looking for tickets etc. If anyone else has recommendations I'm sure there are others that will be visiting this thread over the next few months so feel free to post your ideas.

Now that you know where you're going please make further posts in the Kauai Master Thread.
Pick up a copy of Kauai revealed and enjoy paradise!

IMHO, Honolulu is like Philadelphia with a beach and Maui was a bit overrated. I would definitely do Kauai for all 4 nights.
