They weighed carryons this past Motzaei Shabbos in JFK, and checked in the overweight ones for free.

El Al Israel Airlines recently gradually extended schedule listing into summer 2019 season, effective from 31MAR19. Based on preliminary filing, the airline tentatively schedules last 747-400 scheduled passenger flight on 30MAR19, Tel Aviv – Bangkok route (Bangkok departure on 31MAR19).

From Tel Aviv from 31MAR19, the 6 weekly flights will be operated by a mix of Boeing 767 and 777, replacing the 747. Further changes remain possible in the next few months.

Anyone know if it's possible to upgrade to Premium Economy with Matmid points, how many it would take, and whether it's worth it with AMEX transfer? Thanks.

Yes it is.
Ticket has to be in V,K,M,S or Y.
It's 400 Matmid points per flight and you need P class availability.

It's usually not worth it unless you are flying with out a weekend Etc.

Thank you! What did you mean by flying without a weekend?

Take a trip from Aug 1st to Aug 9 as an example.
Round trip Premium is $2449 and round trip V class (lowest economy class to upgrade to p) is $2284, so it definitely makes no sense to use the upgrade, however if one wants to fly without a weekend premium round trip will be $3149 but economy V class is still only $2284, and round trip upgrade will cost you 800 Matmid points, In this case upgrade might be the way to go
Hevanta?  ;)

Why is the UP brand being merged with EL AL?
In light of UP`s success and the experience we have gained with this brand, we decided to unite all European destinations under one brand, EL AL, as we adapt our service to the diverse needs of the Israeli consumer and review all of our  European destinations.

Is there anyway to select seats on ELAL? It seems like their site is broken. Can I pull up the reservation on a different partner airline and change the seats from there? For some reason one of the pax on the reservation instead of having the seat selected for him, it says unspecified. When I click on it, it doesn't fully loaded the seat map.. Is there any TA who would be willing to assist?

Thanks!
