We stayed on a farm and had exactly that. They gave us fresh milk from a cow in a milk bottle.

Definitely an interesting article to go through, but for this discussion's purposes, if you scroll to the end you will find the author paskens (based on the ohr yisrael) that one should have the milk opened in front of you. This is by no means a definitive psak but interesting to note none the less.

Then you can go out back and get your own CY, no opened-bottle issues, perfect.

It's possible that it becomes a Shayleh of בשר שנתעלם מן העין but CY does not come in to play.

Truth is that if חז"ל consider milk to be one of those things which needs some form of חותם (the implication of גזירת חלב עכו"ם), while many other items don't require the same level of נעלם מן העין suspicion.
it would seem that from a kashrus/hidur perspective, (at least for those makpid on CY) the soy/coconut milk is preferable to the CY milk. Ironically.

Yes, that is what I meant and many many people rely on it being ok... I personally would not drink it unless it was sealed.

All these arguments about CY being more expensive than non-CY might not be relevant in the case of Starbucks, the Baristas have no vested interest in savings Starbucks the few pennies difference in price. If the CY is successful the managers will be so satisfied with the increase in sales that they won't think twice about the minor cost differential of the CY-milk. Or, said a bit differently, the cost differential of a few cents is insignificant when Starbucks is selling you a $5 Venti.
