« on: July 05, 2016, 08:57:46 PM »
Anyone renew their Canadian passport while in the US I wanna go in the summer to Canada and then again Succos. the passport expires end of September... So is the best option to mail it in and travel to Canada without a passport and pick it up from the office? is that my best option?

No, but you can get into Canada with a birth certificate... Sibling did that and had some documentation proving that was coming to pick up the passport just in case... But birth certificate was enough

I was told this month by USA/Canadian border crossing staff that legislation/regulations for land border crossing are under review and may get tighter soon, (this was when driving into the US).

I have triple citizenship but reside here as a Canadian. I once went out of the country for only 5 days so I had no time to get a new passport then, and I would have had than 6 months remaining on my return trip. I was in Miami and the consulate there just asked me for proof of travel and issued a new passport in less than a week!

In Canada if you show proof of traveling time you could get a passport in 24 hours

If you have a valid passport from another country, I.e USA, you can enter Canada on an expired Canadian passport.

Did just that but got it in the 2 day time frame which is considerably cheaper. Went in on a Wednesday told them living in the us leaving Sunday they had it for Friday.... cheaper then doing it from the us!
