      The tour picked me up from my hostel Sunday morning, we drove to the river then  took a boat then a van then a boat again to our lodge in the Amazon Rain forest, it is not an easy place to get to,  I must also say although I have been to Costa Rica there was something very special about the Amazon rain forest where you just listen to the sounds of nature and shut your eyes and meditate and your in a different universe listening to all the relaxation sounds of Nature from birds to monkeys to pink dolphins, we also went Pirana fishing:

       


Some of the larger boats are going up river to the 5 day trip to Belem with stops on the  way carrying cargo and passengers that sleep on Hamocks or the more "luxury" rooms, the Chabad Shaliach in Manaus has told me he has been on these boats for 2 day upstream to meet fellow Jews living in smaller towns upstream and the only access is by boat, talk about mesiras nefesh





The Meeting of Waters (Portuguese: Encontro das Águas) is the confluence between the Rio Negro, a river with dark (almost black-looking) water, and the sandy-colored Amazon River or Rio Solimões, as the upper section of the Amazon is known in Brazil upriver of this confluence. For 6 km (3.7 mi) the two rivers' waters run side by side without mixing. It is one of the main tourist attractions of Manaus, Brazil. The same also happens near Santarém, Pará with the Amazon and Tapajós rivers. This phenomenon occurs in other regions of the world with differing characters of rivers.

This phenomenon is due to the differences in temperature, speed and water density of the two rivers. The Rio Negro flows at near 2 km per hour at a temperature of 28°C, while the Rio Solimões flows between 4 and 6 km per hour at a temperature of 22°C.

Video of canoeing deep inside the rain forest, for best viewing I highly recommend watching this on a big screen and put on your noise canceling headsets or Bose headsets, this was so relaxing,  listening to  the sounds of nature while paddling around deep inside the rain forest.
