Chase Sapphire Reserve BENEFITS master thread

5/24 applies to this card
Minimum $10K of CL is needed, so if you can't get 10K on an instant, there's another great reason to get declined

DansDeals.com » Blog Archive » Chase Sapphire Reserve Additional User Benefits And Lounge Guesting Policy Are Awesome!

There are multiple instances reported on this very thread of someone who was way over 5/24 and did not have PC and who got approval after recon.

The information below no longer applies for 2016/2017 but should still be useful for 2017/2018

Can you still get a 2016 travel credit if you apply now for a Sapphire Reserve card?

People have been reporting various due dates in January. If you get a due date between the 6th to the 25th then your bill will close between December 9th-28th and you will have time to spend the $300 in 2016 travel credit.

It is definitely still possible to get those due dates, but there’s no guarantee. If you do apply then be sure to call reconsideration to see if you can get approved today.
You may also be able to change your payment due date to generate a December statement if your due date is earlier than January 6 or later than January 25th. Just call to have you due date changed to January 25th to have your statement close on December 28th.

From here. Hopefully this will stop the constant questions.

What's the point of posting before it's released and/or the full details are known?

Ok, let me clarify. It didn't help me, and my heimishe Chase banker told me that it never helps for 5/24. IDK if he's right, but that has been his experience. I'll give it another shot, and hopefully I'm wrong...

hmm yeah well considering I was way above 5/24 and approved for Sapphire I assumed it was due to CPC. But it's possible that CPC generated a Saph pre-approved offer which allowed me to bypass the 5/24. Maybe it indirectly helps. As Freddie says, it's all anecdotal anyway since 5/24 doesn't officially exist.

Really? I could have sworn I remember reading an article where Chase corporate wouldn't officially confirm that the rule existed.

edit: Here it is. From April though.

Quote
Chase spokesperson Ashley Dodd told Yahoo Finance said she could not confirm that the 5/24 rule exists but did say having too many new credit accounts doesn't look great. “To continue providing valuable offers that attract those types of customers, we have restrictions related to the number of new cards customers can receive in a period of time,” she said.

That was a game-changer IMHO. 1.5x miles for no annual fee.
Is this a game-changer? If yes, how so?

IMHO if you don't write about Citi Prestige there is really no point in writing about this card...

100k UR, decent bonus categories, and no AF the first year (which doesn't need blogging about). Nothing too exciting otherwise.

It's a great signup bonus, but it's not a game changer.

Isn't it a game changer in the amount of points being offered? Don't u think that there will start being better offers for some of the lower cards? (Even if they're targeted)

Cmiiw , isn't the fact that travel redemption is set to 1.5, a positive factor  to get excited about?

Don't see a mention of a sign up bonus

Possible that the signup bonus will have a different landing page. I wonder if applying via this link would actually get you the card or not.

Also I'm surprised they don't define what the $300 travel credit is applied to.

EDIT: Seems like people have reported being approved for the card despite being way over 5/24. I guess it is live but with no signup bonus atm

Seems like people calling are being told no bonus.

Looks like the travel credit applies to ticket cost as well.

Quote
A statement credit will automatically be applied to your account when your card is used for purchases in the travel category, up to $300 in statement credits annually ("annually" means the year beginning with your account open date through the first December statement date of that same year, and each 12 billing cycles starting after your December statement date through the following December statement date). Purchases are when you, or an authorized user, use a card to make purchases of products and services, minus returns or refunds. Buying products and services with your card, in most cases, will count as a purchase; however, the following types of transactions won't count: balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, overdraft advances, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable. We do not determine whether merchants correctly identify and bill transactions as being of a certain type. For more information about Chase rewards categories, see www.Chase.com/RewardsCategoryFAQs. Statement credit(s) will post to your account the same day your travel category purchase posts to your account and will appear on your monthly credit card billing statement within 1-2 billing cycles. Qualifying purchases made by authorized users on your account will be included in the $300 Annual Travel Credit. Maximum statement credit accumulation for the Annual Travel Credit is $300 annually. The Annual Travel Credit will be issued for the year in which the transaction posts to your account, through your December statement date. For example, if you pay for baggage fees, but the airline does not post the transaction until after your December statement date, the cost of the baggage fees will be allocated towards the following year's Annual Travel Credit maximum of $300.

Here's a landing page with 100k language, though.

4k spend in this link, not like the reported 5k.
