ZADARMA.com for DID (virtual numbers)?
« on: August 02, 2016, 12:29:42 AM »
I was looking for an Israeli virtual number that is capable of receiving sms and found Zadarama.com

It is based in Bulgaria.

If you want to pay by CC, they ask you to upload scan of your ID. I didn't feel safe with that, so I paid by PayPal (minimum is $5 for either option).

However, it seems that in order to receive SMS, I still need to upload a copy of my ID. I am a little scared to do that. Any suggestions or experience?

With no setup fee and only $2/month for an Israeli number it sounds like a great deal. But ID safety would need to be addressed.

Latest update: I gave them a copy of the ID page from my passport with DOB blurred out.

They didn't mention anything about DOB, but said they wanted to see a full spread.

I've questioned them over and over as to why they need it, but all their tech support will say is that if I can't give them what they ask for, they won't enable incoming sms.

I gave it one last shot showing also the opposite side of the ID page with a black box covering up my signature. If they don't accept it, I'll just move on.

DIDWW sells a metered Israeli mobile DID for $2.50 per month ($5 setup IINM) no charge for incoming sms, but minimum CC charge is $50.

Instantdidnumber.com sells Israeli mobile DID with no charge for incoming sms for under $2.50 per month (looks like they use DIDWW for the backend wholesale). Will try if I get nowhere with Zadarama.com

Does not have to mean anything but https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zadarma.sip&hl=en
4.5 rating is not bad it does say something about the company

They still won't enable incoming SMS without a clean copy of passport. (I sent them one with my DOB erased and a black box covering up my signature and they wouldn't accept it).

Correct. My bad, I have been working off a mobile browser (and on-screen swiftkey keyboard) for the last couple of days.

I'm thinking of using them to get an American number while traveling to Israel, so I can forward calls from my US phone number to my Israeli cell phone there.

Can anyone tell me more about this company from personal experience?

@ExGingi if you are still with them I would love to find out more.

Why go through all that trouble ? Why not get an Israeli Sim that has a US number as well?

It means you have to take the ₪99 from Golan or pay $15/month, IINM. Depending on your usage, this may be cheaper, and provides greater flexibility.

If you're planning on being in Israel for an extended period of time and having a smartphone, I think porting your US number to Hangouts may be simpler and cheaper. I find I get better call quality to the States through Hangouts on the US listeners side, too.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

Never ended up using them, and never looked into using them the way you describe (so I can't tell you if it's cost efficient). I wanted to use them to get an Israeli number so I can receive sms from Israel at nothing but the monthly charge for the DID ,but ended up getting a full refund from them after they insisted on a copy of my ID which I refused

I don't want to use Hangouts (even though my number is already ported there). Can anyone recommend a good service?

Golan telecom 99 shekel works great for me and you can easily forward your regular American number to the dsl number they provide you with. but like it was mentioned, this doesn't work for sms.

You don't pay an additional $15 for the American number added?

Golan is one of the more expensive phone plans when it comes for a data plan.
Vs hot mobile data plans starting at 29NIS, but only downside is they don't offer any american numbers.

Golan has some decent sales at time to time, And offers or did offer unlmt to the US/CANADA.
