Did/Will You Take A Shower This Week?

Not looking to go around any rules c"v, just quoting what I was told, and admonishing the trend of using a sefer as a Halachic authority, rather than asking your LOR. Do we really want to get to a stage where our children will say no need for Rabbonim (except on Shabbos and Yomtov) and have a computerized posek?

Obviously  נהרא נהרא ופשטיה, which is why one should ask their LOR. When I sat shiva ל״ע and asked for guidance the first rule was that we are meikel in aveilus.

The flip side is that our kids don't know that al pi halacha, before considering exceptions (which may apply to most) it's inappropriate to shower during the 9 days.
I think it's important to know that the first place to check is to see what halacha says and to see what the seforim say. Of course the next step has to be that each should consult their own LOR. But it's important for future generations to know that Torah in all generations prohibits/discourages it, in general.

Not disagreeing just saying uncomfortable is a very loose term. Basically using that as a yardstick you can shower ten times a day.

Thank you. You could have just given me the Siman/Seif. Anyway, I just went through it. It talks about not showering at all (similar to the Artscroll posted earlier), but doesn't say anything about taking less frequently than you normally do. I also want to clarify that this isn't something my Rav hasn't told me, I meant this is something I had never heard in HS or Yeshiva. I asked a friend who said he had heard of it, but said similar to other guys here that he didn't think it applied anymore saying that back then it really was a big deal for people to take showers/go to the bathhouse, but now we take showers every day, so a shower is not a big deal for us.

that happens to be a principle in the gemora
and thinks are certainly different than they used to be. see: showering on yomtov. tosfos says it isnt a davar hashaveh lechol nefesh.

1. He said conversion is not an option (though many years ago I had a bochur in Yeshiva that had a conversion from Ashkenazi to Sefardi from R' Ovadia Yosef, not sure if it was the entire family or just that bochur.)
2. R' Yosef is Iraqi, not Syrian.
