Basically you can't get the sign up bonus on a new card if you've opened or closed a card within that brand (e.g American Airlines, Expedia, Hilton or Citi ThankYou points) within the past 24 months. Previously you were limited to the specific card not being opened or closed within 24 months (e.g you could get the Citi Prestige and then apply for the Citi Premier two months later and it would be fine).

Quote
American Airlines AAdvantage® bonus miles not available if you have had any Citi / AAdvantage card (other than a CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage card) opened or closed in the past 24 months.

Quote
Expedia+ Points Bonus Offer is not available if you have had any Expedia+ or Expedia+ Voyager card opened or closed in the past 24 months.

Quote
Bonus Hilton HHonors points are not available if you have had any Citi®Hilton HHonors™ card opened or closed in the past 24 months.

Quote
Bonus ThankYou points are not available if you have had ThankYou Preferred, ThankYou Premier or Citi Prestige cards opened or closed in the past 24 months.

Ouch.  Any DPs of people actually being denied bonuses?

That mean's that I have to wait 24 months and 9 days for the next card... Well... and of course I will have to decide which of the 2 I will wanna churn, either the Prestige or the Premier, that's super annoying to someone that's about to finish his 24 months of 1 type but applied for another somewhere in the middle...

No, rule is new (I think added today) so too early to tell at this stage. Don't see why they would add the language if it wasn't planned to be enforced, but Citi have done stupider stuff in the past.

Thanks.  I'm coming up on two years since I opened my most recent TYP card, my Prestige.  I'll apply for a different one right after, I guess.  Then close the Prestige.

More bad news, applies to all brands not just Citi TYP. I don't think I can edit title so if a mod can do it that would be great.

Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

I have a AA plainum targeted offer.

Wonder if these rules are similar to Amex, depending on the app language, or if it's a hard rule like Chase's 5/24

So amex is once in a lifetime; Chase has 5/24; and Citi is one bonus per card family in 24 months. My, what fun.

i think this is the worst out of all. As once in a lifetime can be avoided with no language apps. And 5/24 has some ways around it as well. I don't see anyway around this

I'm curious if some mailers may not have it.  Unlikely, but a guy could hope.  I'm applying for an AA gold in the morning with an invite, hopefully they won't give me issues.

Yes, not sure when the new language came in. I've contacted Citi for clarification, I bet some people will have been hit with this without even realizing it  >:(.
