Bose QC25 vs. Q35
« on: August 16, 2016, 08:49:31 PM »
I just exchanged my QC25s which I had since February, since the left earcup went bust. Turns out the whole thing was probably defective, as the noice cancelling on the new on also seems better.

That said, I now have the option to upgrade to the QC35 for $50. Aside from the Bluetooth, what else does it offer that may make it worthwhile?

I love the 35's, wasn't so impressed with the 25's (compared to the 15's) and before you know it smartphones won't have headphones jacks anymore so Bluetooth is the way to go.

I'd say go for it.

Just a few questions, if you don't mind. I just want to feel it out a bit more.

How often do you use them and for how long?
What do you usually use them for?
Why do you think they're better than the QC25s?

I used the 15's for hundreds of hours, only used the 25's and 35's for a couple days each to try out.

My little brother had the same thing as you and upgraded to the 35's for $50. From him.

Pro:
-More comfortable
-Better noise cancelling
-Less glitches like when something blows on the headphones (ambiant noise)
-Ease of use with Bluetooth and wearing them more often
-Charges very fast

Con:
-They don't work while charging
-The wire doesn't have noise cancelling option only via bluetooth

Thanks. I guess I'll go for it.

Interestingly enough, these are the ones I got from BuyDig a while ago. (I meant February '15 in the above post.)

You can use Bluetooth on planes. Just no cellular (not like it would work up there in the first place).

I think he means to connect to the plane's entertainment system.

If true this seems like a massive oversight from Bose's end.

From CNET  >:(
The good news is the headphone does work as a wired headphone if the battery runs out of juice (a 47.2-inch cord is included -- it's slimmer than the one that comes with the QC25 and has no integrated microphone). You just can't use the noise-canceling or Bluetooth, of course, but at least you can get some sound out of it, and the tight seal of the ear cups does provide a fair amount of noise isolation.

Q25 for DW it is.

That's if the battery is dead.
What about if it's not and you want to hardwire?

Oops.
It's also worth noting that it's important to have the corded option for airplane use. Some airlines will still restrict you from using Bluetooth headphones during portions of the flight, and a cord is necessary to plug into your seat's in-flight entertainment system. Thats' the one drawback of Bose's upcoming QuietControl 30 in-ear Bluetooth headphone with variable noise-canceling: it can only be used as a wireless headphone and has no corded option.

QC35s are noise cancelling when using the aux cable. However you can't control the volume over aux cable.

+1 Just arrived today.

No wall charger included. Just a very short USB cable.
