If I cancel my current biz plat. card on 9/1/15 and then I upgrade my Biz gold to the Plat. on 12/1/2015 to get the 30k MR and then downgrade back down the gold or green card 1/1/2016, Does my 12 month exile period where I am ineligible for another Biz plat welcome bonus start from 9/1/215 or 1/1/2016?

I am trying to evaluate if I should do the upgrade now for the 30MR bonus along with doing a PGGM for the $200 or wait until December/January so I can do the PGGMx2.

I don't understand the December/January thing. Doesn't the $200 credit come every calendar year? Why can't you do once now, and once in January? Why wait till December? (I'm not challenging - just asking, b/c I've seen others ask the same and I don't get it)

Because if he's upgrading now then he'll have to pay the AF. As opposed to upgrading in December he gets 60 days to downgrade and get back the AF.

I am canceling my biz plat cards since I already got my spend bonuses and I want to avoid the AF. I have upgrade offers that I want to use but I am wondering if worth to hold off till December to upgrade in order to gain an additional $200 per card in airline reimbursements for dec/jan but that would mean I would extend my 12 month hiatus from applying again for the biz card by a few months which could risk my losing out on potential 150k offers next year (limited to exp dates)or just to do the upgrades ASAP and have a shorter timeframe to reapply.

Why not downgrade to green? 99 au's for SBS? Worth much more than $200

In the end I will retain my two green cards since that is where I keep my points alive since I have no other consumer Amex cards currently to hold my MR.
The simple question for me is, is it worth making $400 profit or better to be able to have the ability to reapply for 3 months earlier for new biz plats next year. I'm leaning towards having a shorter period to re-apply since getting the 150k offers are not that easy to come by and I will be at the mercy of their Exp dates so keeping maximum flexibility will be key.

I was proactively targeted after 6 months. Not sure if the option existed sooner.

I think it took me about 6-9 months to get the Hilton upgrade
