Per DoT law they can close 15 minutes before, but many airline's policy is to wait up to 10. However you aren't entitled to anything if they close 15 minutes before, but you can probably get on the next flight.

Arriving at the gate 15 minutes before? Likely
Arriving at the airport 15 minutes before? Hope it's a close gate and nobody in the precheck line. You probably have 3-5 minutes to get there.

Also depends what time of day and if they are in a rush. On one early morning red eye I was on they waited a few minutes to see if a missing passenger was coming. And on another they where already backing out of the terminal before the scheduled flight time.

I'm assuming you checked in online. They won't even check you in even without bags less than 30 min from flight time. At least that's my recollection. Somebody CMIIW, please.

I've done it on numerous occasions. Bh always made it. Actually just happened in Atl. Couldn't believe my mazal. T6 so no train.

jfk is one of them. Showed up 40 minutes prior with bags, they wouldn't let me check in. Had to shlep all the way to lga to get on the next flight.

Yep. I once spent an extra two days in NY because of that policy at JFK. I say two days because the next day all the flights were cancelled from a snow storm.

My ddf Notifications were off. No i didnt make it. The door was closed and they didnt want to open it. They put us on the next flight

Jetblue holds Satmar zman, 18 minutes before the flight gate was closed on me last week. Thought they held vizhnitz 15 minutes. Got $50 Travel bank credit for the trouble.
