Applying for my baby. The Global Entry has a list of approved documents, one of them being a birth certificate. I use that one and put in info. Then it demands an approved document from a drop down list and the only options are neutralization stuff etc or a passport.

(If you just use a passport then you can fill in passport on next screen. If you must in fact put in a passport, what is the point in having a birth certificate as a choice of approved documents?)

Just recently applied for babies passport so will be a little while until it arrives. Would like to apply using birth certificate, wait till it arrives (must mail it out to get a passport, comes back in the mail) so that will be ready for appointment when birth certificate comes in mail. Seems like I just need to wait for passport. Does anyone know? thanks
You can use a passport for both. No need to bring the birth certificate.

Sorry for being unclear. I would gladly use my kids passport. He doesn't have one yet. We ordered one last week. Should have it in a few weeks. First time you get a passport (like for a baby) you need to send them his/her birth certificate. So that's out too.

Anyway, when applying for global entry, one of the documents that can be used is a birth certificate. So I chose that one. (obviously, you then must bring that document in, and I wont get it back for a while, but it takes time for g.e. to approve you, so by the time I get the birth certificate back, I should be ready to go to the appointment)

But whats weird is that after putting in the birth certificate info, it demands one of a few documents. A passport or some other stuff (we dont have). So if after using a birth certificate, you anyhow need to use a passport, then whats the point of a birth certificate? If you use a passport, nothing else is needed.

I spoke to a rep who says I need a passport but should call hotline (866-530-4172. 19 callers ahead of me, at least half hour wait  ::)) I guess I will just wait for the new passport to arrive and then apply. Not sure why birth certificate is an option.

I spoke to a rep and there is no way to get Global Entry without a passport, since the whole idea is using it when flying abroad. He gave me some kind of reason why a birth certificate might be used when applying, even though a passport will be needed.

Anyone know about how long it takes amex to refund the $100 spent on Global Entry?

Anyone here have any experience with a denial of their Global Entry application (or an appeal)? Seems it relates to some cigars (from that country off the coast of florida) that i was stopped with 15yrs ago.
Yeah, I know...Crime doesn't pay.... Spare me the lecture.

how did you get caught? details please.

I doubt you'll get approved. that's the point of the review process, to approve low risk revelers and avoid high risk ones

Not much of a story. Seemed like a random check.
I'm just wondering whether they might cut me some slack since it's such a long time ago.

(IMHO) It's the government, not a no-name store or even a CC company. I highly doubt they'll "cut you some slack".

I read through a few pages...

Can someone chime in with personal experience?  I am traveling with wife, kids, and mother's helper.  Is this kidai, for the 'front of line' part of the benefit?

I would need 9, then.  Two questions - 1) travelling July 20-ish, enough time? 2)  I was planning on applying for two passports this week (probably will expedite), would I need a 24 hour service for the passports, in order to get ge in time?
