Note 7 rocks, buy apple if you enjoy being told what to do.

I've always hated apple for that (and even more so when I learned that Steve Jobs' phobia of buttons is why everything is moving to touch screens), BUT after several years in Android world (Note, Note2) I had to switch to iOs for corporate email compatibility, and I have to admit that the build quality of the iPhone and iOs is a world apart.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

build quality?? Do elaborate?

What me and most people I know care about their phones is how quick it is, what it can do for then, and durability. I don't see how apple wins in any of those categories.

The debate should be Android devices in general vs iPhone. The answer is very simple, iOS is what makes the iPhone so great. The reason being that different manufacturers try to beat everyone by introducing the best processors, largest RAM, best screen etc., but Apple found the perfect balance of better and practical. For example their screens might not be the best, but the way we hold a phone there is no way to notice the difference with a better screen. The RAM and processors aren't the fastest either, but somehow iOS manages to open the same apps/games much faster than any Android. Apps are also easier to make since developer don't have to think about 100's of devices. Same goes with battery, they can keep it the same capacity and since the phone draws less power with a "normal" screen it can last for a good 10 hours of use, and it's not 10 hours on a good day, but everyday. Of course there are limitations for people who look to use their phone like a laptop or people who like to fully customize it.

Its hard to compare the iPhone to 100 diff android phones- but vs the Note 7:
iPhone is far faster than the Note 7.
I assume both have a top notch build but the exploding batteries gives iPhone the edge.
Build quality is just another aspect of longevity. Another place where the iPhone wins is the timely software updates for 4-5 years after it's released. This impacts both the longevity of the phone and the resale value.

Apple wins hands down IME.

An Android (maybe only Samsung) might start as a fast phone, but with time, as apps get installed, more data stored on the phone, it starts becoming sluggish. I've seen nothing close to that experience on the iPhone.

Lightning port and plugs are a lot more durable than any micro USB that I have seen.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Agree with the first part but Apple deserves blame for not moving to usb-c.
The port might be fine but lightning cables are crap and it's time to move on.

I've had lighting cables last longer than Samsung supplied micro USB cables.

Lightning ports are smaller and thinner than USB-C and micro-USB ports so it makes sense that they didn't make the switch on mobile devices.

Happens to all phones.
It's only news when it happens at an unusually high rate.

Either way, this thread is already out of date now...

What's the Samsung version of isheep?
It takes great levels of delusion to gloat about a discontinued phone.
