It boils down to a company culture that doesn't appreciate their customers as their greatest asset.

Strikes are threatened not only at ELAL, but for some reason (that many here are aware of) it doesn't seem to reflect as badly on the company as in ELAL's case. As I've pointed out above, it's a culture/attitude problem at ELAL.

The irony of this situation is that other airlines are making a killing on North America-TLV routes.

So they say. They said the same about AA.

No, so the CEOs say explicitly.

For the past couple of years El Al has been wet-leasing planes from other airlines to cover their routes.
Not true. They leased these planes because of the pilot issue - not to cover existing routes.

Dozens of readers have sent me horror stories about these airlines and Iíve made several posts about the situation.
Privilege Style is a 777-200 - we can argue about if it's better than Elal's 747
Hi Fly is 2 brand new A330 which is comparable to a LH/LX/TK plane - MUCH better than Elal 747

The pilots blame El Al for charging passengers a premium while shifting them onto low cost carriers that cost El Al far less than flying their own aircraft and employees.

Pilots are upset... but nothing to do with LY charging a premium to customers to have them fly low cost airlines. They couldn't care less about that

Pretty bad indeed. I guess there are mixed reviews about these planes and service. Bottom line - EL AL better shape up

The one flight they will not play games with (CMIIW) is 001. That's their flagship route, if they mess with that they will start bleeding big time IMHO.

This is nuts. I have business class seats reserved for January and February. I hope they dont change the planes on me. The only way to get them to stop acting like a third world airline is to get the chareidi press which caters to a large part of the consumer base to start writing about these practices

I haven't heard them (please someone correct me if I am wrong) do this on the TLV-JFK-TLV route (and possibly not on any of the 747 routes - EWR-TLV alternates between 747 and 777. Are the any DP about that route being substituted when a 747 was scheduled?) You see this mostly on their secondary long-haul (and possibly short haul) routes that operate a 767 or 777.

didn't they just cancel last night's EWR-tlv flight?
