tonight the flight to PEK is cancelled
The one flight they will not play games with (CMIIW) is 001. That's their flagship route, if they mess with that they will start bleeding big time IMHO.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

This is nuts. I have business class seats reserved for January and February. I hope they dont change the planes on me. The only way to get them to stop acting like a third world airline is to get the chareidi press which caters to a large part of the consumer base to start writing about these practices

I haven't heard them (please someone correct me if I am wrong) do this on the TLV-JFK-TLV route (and possibly not on any of the 747 routes - EWR-TLV alternates between 747 and 777. Are the any DP about that route being substituted when a 747 was scheduled?) You see this mostly on their secondary long-haul (and possibly short haul) routes that operate a 767 or 777.

I can't believe they care about Chareidim, they treat them like cr@p. Then again, it's mutual, the Chareidim treat LY like cr@p as well.

Last night's cancelled flight was supposed to be operated by a 747

So I guess they do cancel 747s, but after all EWR-TLV is secondary to JFK-TLV. Has any of this been happening on that route, and especially their flagship 001 flight?

Yes
If this happens on their 001, I think they will be bleeding passengers and they know it. Their arrogant culture is coming back to roost.

It doesn't cover strikes.

So... Canceling without reprotecting on another airline so that the passenger is stranded... What was that about do - all airlines being less reliable then elal?

Isn't cancelling without rebooking against DoT rules?

Asher they care about their bottom line. I fly this route around 6 times a year and roughly 50% of passengers are chareideim. I can't imagine a article in the Chareidi weeklys won't awaken them

+1 they do a nice amount of advertising by the chareidim, they know it's a great market for them.

In what manner? (And please don't say that they make minyanim and attempt not to sit next to those of the opposite gender when they feel it's inappropriate.)
