I got the 55k offer that was avail. in Nov. my question is about the 5k points for AU, does AU card have to be "SWIPED" ?

Which is why it is probably like the United card which you automatically get the 5K just for adding someone.

You don't have to swipe anything on the AU card, I've done it on multiple accounts.

Please explain this further. How do they know it's the AU card being swiped when it's the same number as the primary card? It's just a mag stripe, there's no special information in there.

yes the magnetic strip includes the cardholder name, the question is for key/online transaction.
