Marriot Points and Miles Travel Package

I booked the Marriot hotel in Beverly Hills for this January using 160k points (5 nights). For the airfare, I used 65k AA miles.

I just realized today that for 200k Marriot points that I could have gotten the package of 7 nights + 55k miles (and possibly 25% bonus if done by today). I can transfer my remaining 14k SPG points to get to the 200k Marriot points for this package.

I am not sure if I can cancel and get refund on my AA miles, but is it worth trying to do that and then re-booking with that package. If I am unable to do that, should I still use the package since its only additional 40k Marriot points (13-14k SPG points), which will get me the additional 55k miles for future use?

I am not exactly sure how these packages work...I assume I can use those miles for future travel and not necessarily book hotel and airfare for the same trip...

Any advice?

PS. If you only need 5 nights, note that Marriott also has 5 night points and miles packages. Technically they are only available to Marriott elite members and time share owners, but you might have luck with an uninformed phone rep. Or alternatively you can find a qualifying Marriott member to book for you using your points. Good luck.

It definitely takes mazel, and I haven't had any luck with it. But maybe he can get a platinum elite or timeshare owner to book under his account for him.
