I don't think it makes much of a difference. Hapoalim has student accounts (25 checks for 4.5 shekels)
Leumi also has student accounts. And Doar is free (not sure how much checks cost...)

Well, first you should know- It's illegal to cancel checks. But I think you'd call the bank and tell them the check number you want to cancel. But you must have a valid reason for doing so, otherwise the person can still cash your check, have it bounce, then file a complaint against you (aka sue you) which would lead to freezing all your assets.

I am looking into this bc of some jerk who is trying to cancel 3 checks he wrote to me.

Is it illegal or its illegal without a good reason? Let's say I lost my checkbook?
What happens if I have no other assets? Nothing is in the bank here, I'm an american

illegal without a good reason.  I am sure you're allowed to cancel lost checks.

Is only difference between Schwab and TD the $2500 minimum for TD? Any advantages for TD?

Cap1 is online, correct? Is there way to deposit checks or only direct deposit/ ACH ??
Fees to withdraw in Israel?
Do different banks have different exchange rates?

You can deposit checks with the app. There are no fees for withdrawing in Israel.

I don't know anything about Schwab since I never used it, but I can tell you my experience with TD. I had a lot of trouble getting started with them. I made the account while in America, and put $3000 in it to stay over the minimum. When I got to Israel, I tried to put a check from my Chase account into TD from their app to pay my rent, but apparently you need to have the account for 3 months before you can use mobile deposits, so I had to have my mother in law make a deposit for me in the States. Not really their fault since I should have checked their policies, but still annoying. I'd imagine most banks would have similar policy. However, once I went to withdraw my rent, my card got eaten by the Israeli ATM since it got declined. I called TD to find out that there are withdrawal limits on new cards, and I had to wait for a new one to be mailed to Israel since Leumi had already mailed my card back to the states... I called to get a new card sent, and they say I need to send an SM requesting one, so I did. Days and weeks go by, and still nothing. So I call again and they tell me it was never sent, and to SM again.. Anyway, after a few days, I get my new card, and I call to ask them to lift the limits so I can make a withdrawal. Apparently, they can't do that over the phone, so I had to send an SM and wait for them to write back confirming that they did it. They didn't write back until I was already asleep, so I had to go through the whole process again, of calling and SMing.

So, bottom line, once you get through the first 3 months and you can use mobile deposit and withdraw without limits, they work fine.  ;D But until then, they are definitely not America's most convenient bank. Maybe give Schwab a try.

CapitalOne360 is the old INGDirect. It's a very solid Checking/Savings option with very few fees if any. You can use picture deposit with the app or a computer to deposit checks though the limit is $3000 a day I believe. Of course you can always transfer money from another account. I use it as my secondary checking and for a short term savings account and like it a lot. Lots of free ATMs in the states as well.

Does anyone know which bank in Israel does not make you sign a W-9 form?

Hapoalim makes you sign or else they will freeze your account

Hadoar sent a letter today that if they don't get the form within a month they are closing the account

Any info anyone?

I just need the account for Bituach Liumi
Looking too, But there isn't
