Delta Transcon upgrade

Delta states that they do not give complimentary upgrades to Medallions for JFK -> SF/LAX/SEA routes. If I booked a non-direct flight through SLC, LAS or ATL - would I then become eligible for that upgrade?

On a flight from DFW-LGA any chance of getting upgraded? Is there an equivalent to united's RPU?
