Toronto:

The Jewish community is broken up in to three main areas
1. "Down South" which is in the area of Bathurst and Lawrence
2. Clanton Park which is a little further north around Bathurst and Sheppard
3. Thornhill which is even further north @ Clark and Bathurst

Downtown, without any traffic is 25 from down south, 30 minutes from clanton park and 35 minutes from Thornhill. Expect those numbers to almost double during rush hour.

i just got off the phone with spg and they upgraded me to gold but said that in order to maintain it i need 10 stays/25 nights for the year. is there anyway to bypass this and get it to be final without those requirements?

You just call back after the year and request the upgrade again....

Thanks for all those who tried to assist me with plane tickets to Toronto from nyc for my nephew's bris next tuesday.  I should have planned earlier and transferred my SPG into LAN!  I have lurked on this site for quite a while and learned alot, but the true gadlus here is the behind the scenes help that is offered when the need comes up.

In the end we will drive to Toronto, together with my sister's family we are 13 people and one baby.  We plan on leaving NYC on sunday and staying Sunday night in Niagara Falls, CA (any recommendations on which starwoods property to use?)

We will spend monday in niagara and plan to arrive in Toronto around 7-8 PM.  I have 3 BWB nights for Hyatt, should we use those in one of Toronto's Hyatt properties for monday night or should we go for the cheaper SPG properties?  The Bris is in thornhill i am not sure how far that is from the various hotel properties and whether the location makes a difference in getting to shul at 7 or 7:30 in the AM.

Also, any recommendations for a good place to eat on Monday night?  we will probably need a good meal after spending two days on the road.

Thanks so much

Aarony

Trip notes:

The Park Hyatt Toronto is supposed to be fabulous, but it's probably a 30 minute drive from thornhill.

Lol, good one!
Never got a single upgrade as a SPG Gold and I'm batting 1.000 for suite upgrades as a Plat.

Not that I need them but I dont even think Im batting .100 nor most of the people I have contact with. I guess I will have to start traveling with You.

I think you are the ONLY SPG member with a 1000 batting avg. U should write a book on how U do it as I dont know a single person who is even at .500

Feel free to use my account as well in that case  ;D

Maybe it's my personalized SPG card...those who've met me have probably seen it  ;)
