HELP! Need chase to cover a $1300 flight I cant use.
« on: January 15, 2017, 02:47:40 AM »
I booked a flight on Priceline for my AU spouse and our son, using the AU's card (chase sapphire preferred).
It has now been 48 hours and I intended to cancel it within 24 hrs

Priceline is not budging.

Is there a way to take advantage of chase travel cancellation protection?

Is there a particular reason you need to cancel? Is there a particular reason you think chase or priceline should care? the answers to these questions may be a factor in answering yours...

I may not be able to get my new-born Israeli son a passport in time for the flight to canada/US, and a visa isnt an option, because they dont allow visa's  for eligible citizens. SO the only way to fly there is with a passport. which takes time to get.

Is this a valid excuse tobe covered by chase?

I am just worried about calling and  saying the wrong reason, which will ruin my chances of getting refunded. Want to make sure my reason is qualified.

An Israeli passport can be issued on the spot at the airport 24/7 (except Yom Kippur) for around 1200 shekels.

Israeli pasport isnt good enough to get into US or canada. A visa would also be required, which I explained isnt an option here.

I know, someone had asked above and just wanted to throw it out there.

Also, an Israeli passport is good enough for Canada - no visa needed.

So to clarify the problem, you will be traveling with your Israeli born son who will have duel citizenship (given that you or your spouse live in or are from Canada?) and you will be flying form Israel to Canada, and then traveling over the border to the US? I'm not sure how else you would be trying to acquire a CN passport.

Thank you all for responding.

I was at the Canadian embassy twice last week, and I was approved for the passport for my son, but it takes over a month, and the wedding is sooner than that in the US. SO I will be flying straight from TLV to NYC.

The CHASE Rep said that legal visa/passport issues does not qualify for travel protection.

The truth is I had intended to cancel the flight within 24 hours of booking it, but got sidetracked and forgot. This all happened because I wasn't careful to cancel it on time.

The last thing I can do is to tell chase it was an unauthorized charge, but that would be lying.

Perhaps I didn't give enough charity and that is G-d took the money. At least we are all healthy, Thank G-d.

+1 ,thats exactly what I would do, I would not give up, if it takes 10-15 representatives and a 3 supervisors it's worth the 1300, I wish you my best hatzlacha.

Just hucahuca and huca till you get the answer you need, it's not hard coded with priceline it's just their policy which you need a rep to override which can be done.
