Summer Europe Tour Advice
« on: May 08, 2011, 01:36:18 PM »
Thinking of touring Europe during August...no ideas what to do...budget is $2500 all inclusive for two weeks (willing to do three but summer + Europe = $$$$$)

Can I get some ideas and tips as to how to route cities, what to avoid and what is a must do?

Don't need any hotels in major Jewish cities as I've got a rolodex which has me covered and it'll save a penny or two I'm sure.

Thanks!

IMHO, $2500 for 2 weeks in Europe will get you hostels and buses. Better bring your own food too....

I did it for much less than that, but then again I already had the miles for flights and points for hotels.

Does the $2500 include the flights?

i've done many cities such as amsterdam, frankfurt, london but now that i'm married it's time to start all over...

$2500 includes flights...i've done a little research and it seems that paris is the cheapest city to fly in and out of during august and that's at $515 a ticket..

i've heard good things about a place in italy called lake como so that with paris and another city or two should make for a decent foundation to start with...

Check out cheap flights on easyjet and ryanair. They are often cheaper than taking a train between places. You may want to build your itinerary around that. The long train rides between countries and major destinations can cost over $200.00.

I don't agree, if your transatlantic flight is not part of of the $2500, you are doing fine.
Its gona be a bit backpacking style, but is also much fun.

That a young bochur has to fly biz + 5* hotels and take taxis everywhere doesn't make sense to me.

But for an older bochur it's okay, right? :P

A 45 year old bochur? Why not?

I won't keep on repeating, but if not snubby, you can see loads for your money.

+1 would be a real waste of time
I enjoyed rome and Venice as well. Lake Como is beautiful (specifically a tourist town called Bellagio) but I am not sure what you would do there. I spent an afternoon there (jumped in the water while the wife watched but other than that not much to do). It is also difficult to access without a car and crazy expensive.
I am going to London and Paris this summer.
Maybe something in Spain-Barcelona or Madrid?
Life isn't about checking the boxes. Nobody cares.
