Don't complain at least you have FIOS available.

See if you can get AT&T in your area

When Verizon tried to force us to switch awhile back(because the copper wire wasnt working) the tech told us that if we had AT&T they would be forced to replace the wire because they couldn't force the costumers of another company to switch to FIOS.

My father got FIOS nearly 10 years ago. He had 3 phone lines on copper. He convinced them to leave him one of them as is, which he uses for fax.

The real question is why don't you have OBI.

Doesn't OBI run over the internet? Copper wires don't make fast internet.

They can do that. They snuck an upgrade path with notice through the FCC last year. FCC totally ignored all the comments complaining that this will increase prices.

did he ever have a problem that the FIOS  didn't work so he had to use the copper?

Please elaborate, if it's AT&T, the at&t needs to fix the wiring? (At&t is not a Verizon reseller like exchange etc., They are there own company with their own infrastructure, so Verizon doesn't even do the repairs)

If you have a power outage FIOS won't work but copper will (if you have a non-cordless phone)

They give you a backup battery. Yes, it won't work for prolonged outages but for short ones...

I dont know the details because we didnt go through with it, but I think that verizion had to let AT&T uses its infrastructure as an anti monopoly thing. (kinda like an MVNO)

Verizon is not repairing copper in many areas so if your lines go down or there is a bad cable they won't repair it unless you transfer to fiber facs
