After checking out Waimea Canyon, we chilled by the parking lot for a little, letting DB chase some chickens.  We then drove to the spouting horn, about a 40 minute drive.

After spouting horn we went to a nice shopping center that was in the area and had lunch by picnic tables over there.  It's the shopping center right by Poipu beach.

While we were in LA we got a notification from amazon saying that our toaster being sent to GHK was going to be delayed a few days.  So we decided we were going to return it when it finally comes and in the mean time we will go to Wal Mart and buy one.  So we went to wal mart.  We were shopping around a little and I realized I forgot to look for chocolate covered macadamians for my friend, so I told DW to wait to check out.  While I was walking to the macadamia area, I got a notification from amazon that the toaster arrived.  Ok then.

We went back to the hotel, go the toaster, then spent the rest of the day by the pool and salt water lagoon.

Before dinner I toveled the pieces of the toaster, then we ate, and called it a night.

It was an awesome first day in Hawaii.

Tuesday 1/10:
On Tuesday morning we were scheduled to go on a helicopter tour.  We got up before 6 AM naturally, and then davened then rushed through breakfast so we can get to the heliport by 8:25 AM for our 9 o’clock flight (I think those were the times.)  Though they asked us for our weight when we booked the tour originally, they ask you to step on a rug which is actually a scale so they can reweigh you.  Later we sat through the safety briefing and DB was entertaining everybody there rather than watching the video.  It was finally time to go to the helicopter; they wrapped a life jacket in a sack around our waists, put a deflated life jacket on DB as well as headphones, then had us wait to board.  Due to my weight, I’m not what you call a light weight, I was placed in a middle seat which was very annoying since DW was going to be holding DB during the flight and I was holding the camera.  Despite where I was situated, I did manage to get some good pictures.  Some could have been better.  Perhaps this will motivate me to lose some weight lol.  For some reason during the flight my camera said “battery exhausted” and just shut itself off.  This was strange because it was basically fully charged.  It was also really annoying because it happened as we were approaching Jurassic falls.  Thank G-d I have a pretty good camera on my phone, so I just used that for the remainder of the flight.  The ride was so amazing, our pilot was very informative.  He even spotted a school of dolphins which were hard to get a good picture of.  The skies were clear; we were able to see the tops of mountains including Mt. Wailea.  All in all the scenery of Kauai from up in the air was breathtaking.  Hopefully some of these pictures can help explain.

After the helicopter ride we went to Lydgate beach because they have a playground for kids, and because there is a jetty there which makes the waters calm.  For some reason I don’t have any pictures, I’ll check DW’s phone later to see if she has any.  It was a nice beach, nothing too special.

After the beach we went back to GHK and had an amazing time by the pools and lazy river (though the lazy river is lame).

Crazy clear day for Waimea. But where are the pics from the Kalalau lookout?

If it's not posted here then it means it was obstructed by the guy sitting by the window trying to get his own pictures.  Wish I had a window seat, maybe in Maui  :)

I think the pictures are on DW's phone.  I'll try to post them when I could.

Wednesday 1/11

On Wednesday we decided to drive to the North Shore.  Once you drive by the St. Regis you are treated to a breath taking view.  You keep driving a little bit and you hit a one way bridge, then you keep on coming across those one way bridges until you get to the end of the road.  We finally reached Ke'e beachbut were not able to find parking.  Every hippy in the world was there getting ready to hike the Kulalau trail and parked in all of the lots.  One of the lots looked so treacherous that I'm glad there were no spots available.  I ended up just parking on the street.  I got to the beach and the lifeguards pointed out that there was a humpback whale in the distance, wish I got a better view of the whale.  The beach was gorgeous, but the waters were very rough.  The water was beautiful.  After the beach, we drove back down to the GHK, stopped by the Hawaii plantation store to buy some souvenirs.  We got back to the hotel and just did the norm there; pool, lagoon, beach, dinner called it a night.

The rest of our trip we stayed at the hotel.  Rather than going into the details of our schedule, I'll just say what we did overall and post some pictures.

Thursday morning we got massages.  Problem with the massage was that we were in an indoor outdoor room and we were able to hear cars and trucks.  Masseuse was good, but focused on getting rid of knots rather than making it a relaxing experience, so I was in a lot of pain.   Friday morning we did the complimentary photo session; problem is they leave a watermark on the photos and the photos are very expensive to order.  Apparently a friend of mine can get rid of watermarks, something I still need to look into.  We also chilled by shipwreck beach, hung out by the pools, lagoon, lazy river, etc. Our flight out was Motzai Shabbos, so I tried getting late check out, I was only able to squeeze 2 hours out of the hotel staff, needless to say, spending a few hours in the lobby was boring.

At the terminal, gate, and even on the plane, they were offering people 1000 dollar vouchers to not take the flight due to a short runway and weight restrictions.  I would have totally taken that option, but I had to get back to work.

Overall, Hawaii was amazing, we fell in love.  Lives up to the hype.  100% would return to Kauai and of course stay in GHK again.

Hope you enjoyed :)
