Not to get all preachy, but:

Have you ever heard about kshot atzmicha vacher kach kshot acherim or naim hadvarim hayotzim mipe osehem? I'm not saying that you aren't on to something, but before attacking a city, Agudah, Roshei Mosdos, Rabbonim and everything else that moves, make sure that you aren't suffering from the same illness. No, not even a little.

On the topic of worldly pursuits, spending your life chasing points, to the extent that you "churn baby churn" ....well that doesn't seem like the same guy who screams "Its either this world or the next".

Before you holler back at me take a good honest look in the mirror...and maybe just take it down a notch.
Wow didn't know people read into usernames so much...

-1 even with his "standards" criticism is fine.
Believe it or not, there are some people still who care very little about dressing their kids like Arabella Kushner, driving a luxury car or living in a luxury brand new home with all the must have upgrades and trimmings...
Was there really a point of bringing in Jewish girl by name?

Especially to take them further than they mean. Maybe he churns to sell the points and pay tuition. he already stated that he doesn't use it for what he was blamed.

I'm not criticizing Mrs Kushner for dressing her kids like royalty. - they are royalty!
But Mrs Goldberg etc is not royalty and she doesn't need to buy the same brands (on layaway).

Maybe? Where is it ever implied otherwise?
There was a period of time that I churned and earned, to support my family while in kollel, and to fully pay for my secular education upfront, inorder to enable us to earned a reasonable parnassah. (Maybe..).

I mean even if someone is able to churn and earn $40k a year, it has nothing to do with living a ridiculously materialistic lifestyle.

Where does a materialistic lifestyle end and a ridiculously materialistic lifestyle begin? The point is that if you are into olam hazeh, then don't attack other people for being more into olam hazeh than yourself. Its just a matter of degrees. I'm sorry if you were offended, but if your going to go on the attack you gotta be able to handle some push back

I'm not offended in the least. With what should I even be offended? Where do you see that I am "in to olam hazeh"?

Anyway, most people here know exactly what I'm talking about and can clearly identify roughly where the line is crossed. We are not talking about any vague concept.
You seem to have taken this whole thread way too personally....

+1 which is why I wrote this on his original post
By your standards there can never be criticism of anything.

Ok, that's what I figured you meant. That being the case, a bit of clarification is in order: Not the yeshiva per se, but the "corporate arm" of the yeshiva. Not justifying; just clarifying.
Same thing. GM.

We've gotten to the point where even the Lakewood chosson gemach that takes care of basic needs for chassanim is paying for a custom suit....
Calm down. The custom suit costs $375. I'm sure the gemach negotiated a contract with them for a reduced rate. They also offer another option to go into a specific store and pick out any suit there. Also probably $250-300 value, which I'm sure they have a deal too.

The money isn't the only issue, wasting it is. Even more so when that puts pressure on others who may not need from a gemach.

I got married very recently, and no one is expecting custom suits

Also there is still a stigma of leaving kollel and people feel that they are looked down upon for working, however once you make money than you are looked up at (ie try getting into a popular school ,you must be in kollel or have money) so people try to pretend.    Obviously the question really starts is why are the poor living such a high lifestyle
"Also there is was a stigma of leaving kollel to go to work."

As someone already posted, they don't pay more than the price of regular suit at your local suit store.

Besides for their negotiated rate, we aren't in 1995 anymore where a custom suits costs $900 .

It's irrelevant if they're spending more or not, its not about the money as much as the standard they are setting, where everybody needs to have the best highest quality of evrything. Its completely anti yidishkiet to be so concerned with materialism.
