You're still in the easy stage. Give it a year or two. I don't want to be negative but I have a number of patients that had the surgery. They are really messed up because of it. Mainly because they had the surgery, lost a nice amount of weight rather quickly, and then decided that they could have 'off times'. They put on weight quickly which leads to depression. Then the cycle goes round and round. To point where 2 of them (one was a regular frum heimishe yid) nebach committed suicide. Others have major deficiencies, when coupled with other dx's (ie diabetes, renal failure, etc) could be life threatening.
Point is, you could really never let your guard down. Especially after your body adjusts and you stop losing. Vitamins/supplements and exercize are vital. If done right, u'll def be matzliach. Just keep in mind that there really are no easy paths in life.

There is no loosening it up. It's a sleeve, not a band. No stomach left :-)

It's my first Pesach,  so ill see how it goes. I'll try doing the smallest shiur.

Meanwhile, I saved over $300 buying less matzoh this year 18 lbs. Vs. 30 last year.

Thanks for the warning.

I have a feeling that you mix up sleeve and gastric bypass, which I agree..The bypass is a more dangerous surgery and it keeps you vitamin deficient for life.

With sleeve,  you basically eat less....No harm in that. I always wanted to be able to feel full, was always upset that I am still hungry after eating.

Nope, not mixing them up. Each have their own benefits but both could be quite dangerous after the initial 'high'. I didn't even discuss the ulcers that could develop, rejection of meds, etc. I'm sure your surgen, nutritionist, and team discussed those things with you and how to hopefully avoid problems down the line. But take their every word very seriously and follow then to a tee.
One last thing is to keep every single follow-up appointment (including the annuals). Yes, they may be a pain (shlepping to the city, sitting in waiting rooms) and costly (missing work, co-insurance) but trust me, you don't want to end up like the many people I know.

I have struggled with being underweight most of my life. Lots of people don't want to hear about a "problem" like that but we all have our struggles, even if our paths are different.

Losing 55lbs is amazing! Saving $300 is amazing! I hope you are really proud and encouraged by your progress. Do you have a target amount for your weight loss total? Your comparison of the bypass vs the sleeve gives me the impression that maybe it's not as much as a person who gets a bypass, but I really don't know at all.

Keep taking care of yourself.  You're doing great!

Gastric surgery is very painful surgery and my father had to do it. It removes 80% of the stomach and it reduces hungry and eat less for the patient. Today's junk food is the main reason behind it. We all responsible to control it. Follow good food habits for better life. Read health related articles to get more idea.
