Some apps started working very slow since then (example Chase)
+1 not seeing any benefits to this upgrade

I never upgraded my Note 4 from from Android 4 to 5 and don't plan to upgrade my Note 8 from Android 7 to 8. Usually more bugs from these upgrades than new features.

+1. One of the places Android phones tend to have issues is with their upgrades.

Always worth it to wait a bit and hear reviews from others.

That being said I upgraded my device (planning on doing a phone swap soon so I wasn't concerned) and so far have been surprised at the fact that that are no noticable issues (yet!) And my device is actually running smoother.

Def no big reason to upgrade IMO. I did it for dual messenger. But if you have no specific reason it's always better to wait.

You don't have that icon on the top every so often? Maybe there would be a way to stop that notification but this time I just updated without thinking. Definitely can't just swipe away

I didn't on my Note 4.
No update to 8 yet for the Note 8.

Generally I would say the - android and iPhone- phones are getting slower after a major update,  they work best with the operating system they where built on,
Nexus might be a exception,  but my iPhone 7 works much slower after updating to iOS 11, and same is galaxy s7 after updating to android 7, but un9it didn't stop me from updating my s9 to oreo...

The settings app after updating to Oreo is messed up, million settings spread into whole bunch of different parts
For instance how many notification settings and overrides are there? It's divided in notifications, apps and security and so on
Unknown sources was moved to apps>3 dots>special access

So far the s8 doesn't seem to have gone down in price much since the release of the s9 :( $599 on Amazon and B&H
Is there any way to get a NEW s8 (not branded to any carrier) for a better price? Also, if I don't need the extra camera features, is there any reason to pay the extra $120 for the s9? ANy other features I'm missing?
Also, what's the difference between the US version and the intl version? (I live in IL if that makes a difference)

Generally, if it's not answered within a few hours, it doesn't get answered at all. Besides, I really need to order today.

i realize my post was a bit harsh, sorry about that.
also didn't know you had to order it today.

i have the S9 and aside from the camera its basically the same as the S8
but you can get a great price on the S9 with a trade in directly from Samsung and adding the bundle they offer, making it worth IMHO
as far as US or int i think being that you live in IL you should get the international version,i have it and it works in the US and hopefully will once i get to IL)
