« on: May 15, 2011, 05:14:17 AM »
didnt know what to name this
but i got a new comp (thanks to ashero and i love it - samsung q430) anyhow.. every time i shut down my comp, it doesnt save my info online
for example... i go onto dansdeals and click unread posts since last visit- and nothing there... its really getting annoying.
its prob firefox, since thats what im using... but does anyone know how to change that? i cant seem to figure it out and usually im pretty good at these things.
any help would be appreciated.

Glad you like your new Sammy lappy :D

Do you have to sign in again? Is the issue limited to DDF or other sites as well. Sounds like something is amiss in your Firefox preferences...

Which firefox do you have? (Will try to guide you without argument).

If unsure, just tell me whether on the left top of the browser you see an orange button with firefox written on it.

Go too tools > options and choose the privacy tab.

Where there setting is for browser history, make sure it's set to 'remember history', but switch to custom settings just to see the other options and make sure it's keeping cookies until they expire. Also make sure the 'permanent private browsing' and 'clear history when firefox closes' are not checked. The rest of the options should be checked. Set back to 'remember history' and click ok to save. Hope that helps.

Whoops, brain fart.

Here's the answer to your other question:

Quote
1. Type about:config at the address bar and hit enter.
2. Click the “I’ll be careful, I promise!” button
3. At the filter bar, type browser.showQuitWarning and hit enter.
4. You can either double click on it to change the value from false to true, or right click on it and select Toggle.

This change takes effect immediately without restarting Firefox. Now try closing Firefox 4 with multiple tabs opened and you’ll be prompted to save the tabs.

If it's not in your FF history settings, you're going to have to give more examples of other sites where it happens.

Also, try browsing DDF in internet explorer for a day or two and let us know if you have the same problem there too..

Does anybody know why when I go www.DansDeals.com from Firefox it comes up in the mobile version. But when I go to m.dansdeals.com, I get to the regular site? I appreciate any help!

Go to the bottom of the site and you can switch between the desktop and mobile versions.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thanks Dan, that works for that time, but if you go to DD again it goes back to the mobile site.

Try removing Dansdeals cookies. To do that in Firefox go to Tools- Options- Privacy- Remove individual cookies- then type 'Dansdeals' and remove everything listed

Thanks! Do you know why something like that would happen?
