No, its not in yeshiva. I wouldn't keep it in a place where others would have access to it.

Firefox, Chrome, Norton and many more I'm sure offer to remember your password but I've found that none will recognize every page that has a password, for instance many bank passwords only Norton would remmeber etc...

@AsherO
you mentioned that u use Yodlee. I use Mint. what's the difference between the 2? which one's better?
(I'm on my phone so I can't see too much of it, although I do see that Yodlee has a mobile site and mint does not.)

Personally I like Yodlee, the interface isn't as nice (I use the legacy version, which is even less glitzy), but it's really quick and does the job great. It also offers one-click logging-in (for sites that have no security questions). It also doesn't have any ads (AFAICR, if it does they are so unobtrusive that I never noticed).

Mint has a prettier interface, and mines your data to target financial offers tailored to you. I've seen many reports that Mint uses Yodlee API for storing (financial accounts') password information, so this is likely to still be the case.

Nope, not suggesting anyone should transfer, it's just what I use. I don't like mint's interface, I'd say Mint is to Yodlee what Mac is to PC.

(cues Mint/Mac fanboi attack in three... two... one...)

Very helpful ideas on here.
Here's another one:
Make a standard password that you always use. Make it tough to crack (Some caps letters and numbers etc.) Then for each site, use that password but add onto it add the third & fourth letter of the site. for example, lets say your password is: starr1978, then for facebook it would be starr1978ce.
I don't do this but someone told me to do it and it seems like a good idea because its easy to remember

That's mentioned in the LakewoodScoop article linked to above.

No worries, just pointing out. It's actually a good technique, until you hit a site that requires an all numeric 17 digit pin... (I'm exaggerating for affect)

I have mint and do not like the interface (I use Quicken for PC and am very happy with it) maybe I'll give Yodlee a try, one click login is definitely a plus I love it on Awardwallet. I just have to get around to setting it up...

Right. I didn't find the one-click login in the redesigned ('beta') Yodlee. I don't know about new Yodlee accounts, but they still allow mine to default to the old interface, I hope that never changes.

How could a random character be a substitute? Do you even have a clue how encryption (public-key) works?
It is a cheat sheet. You pick an easy to remember password and you encrypt it with the sheet.

Would you use the same password for the same tier (two credit card companies)?

The only time you should use the same password is when both passwords are stored in the same place and there is no additional security offered otherwise.

By all means use the same password for useless thing. Those sign up to view news websites. etc.

Not a good idea, if one password is compromised they can try your login/password combination elsewhere.

who will compromise it? Do you think a hacker will try all my accounts once he gets into one, or you mean AMAX or CHASE, or someone who works there.

I'm talking about the inherent vulnerability in using the same username/password everywhere, it just exposes you to extra risks which can be mitigated by using different passwords everywhere.
