I don't remember where I read that Air India scrapped it after been told that none of the Arab countries on the way would let the planes fly over their airspaces if they fly to Israel.

Which Arab countries? Royal Jordanian and Egypt Air do fly to and from Israel and no Arab country forbids them to fly to and from all Arab countries?

You make a valid point, for eg. RJ will fly over Arab countries while heading to Amman, so the flight is to Jordan, then connecting flights to Israel on a different flight and same as when flying from TLV.

Although it's possible Israel ended up letting and the Arab countries didn't let.
