I remember a time when I read every single post on the forums.
I really miss knowing everyone, it's crazy when I see a member with 500 or a 1,000+ posts and I don't even recognize their username.

Really? When?

There was never as many good deals as there are now, it is harder to find them though as the amount of deals posted has also gone up, hence a need to more likes and dislikes, not to have the deals go away.

My personal opinion is that most FP deals these days are stupid deals, but hey, I'm only a guest on your site and if people buy the stuff because of it and you make a living that's good.

Best proof is that most deals don't even have a single comment.

DDF is very far from the average DDMS user.

Comments are actually the worst proof. In general online and this isn't only true for DD, people make negative comments when something is wrong, but if everything is right they won't bother commenting. Many posts sell hundreds or thousands of items and the first/only comments will be sold out, dead upon arrival, oos etc... with maybe one or two got its thrown in, maybe.

If every person that bought a deal on a post made a comment we would have 1000x the comments we do now. Just look at the GS post on the main site now, it got like 5 comments on the MS where everyone read it and over 30 likes so far on FB, it's just how the platforms are used and what engaged users do or don't do based on the platform. Hopefully the new site will make commenting/engagement easier and more often used.

You are supposed to like it. They do a lot of the work for you.
Once upon a time, deals posted were good deals and the crap stayed on SD.

Once upon a time there was no ccc or the other hemishe deals site of which it seems like every other week a new one pops up.

These days it's not about "finding" a deal, it's about "noticing" it first and then typing/copying/pasting as fast as you can. Case in point, see the the 5 second difference between the 2 posts about the nintendo switch. Neither one "found" the deal, they just both happen to "notice" it on another site and then ran to place it here.

It's not as bad as you make it, there still is a whole lot of junk that stays on SD thankfully, but it is a little annoying to see every single leoa item from ccc show up here.

All in all, I think DD/DDF is par and above the other deal sites simply because he was one of the first especially among the heimishe crowd. (look at the creation date of the url for the other sites, dansdeals.com was well over 10 years before them) Eleff and Co have been doing this for a very long time and know the ropes, even myself who is very new here can see the difference as I read posts from years ago compared to posts from now. So, if they decide to ms a deal i think it is given a second thought.

IMHO, I think the noticing vs. finding is the new reality and people should come to expect it. Yes, there is a lot more slack to sort through but if that bothers you then only look at the ms and let dan/jj do the dirty work  ;)

If it's not free shipping it's not worth it.

My point is there was a time on DDF where no-one post padded, in case you aren't aware, it's rampant nowadays...
