Lost Money In A Chase Atm..
« on: March 16, 2017, 06:17:16 PM »
Make a long story short I made a few deposits in a chase atm at night and with one of my deposits I put in around $50-$70 and them machine went ahead and ate my money and said there's a technical error and please call the back of your card or the branch, and after that the machine just turned off on me and showed windows 7 powering down. (first time seeing that.)
So I went ahead and call the claims department and had a case made and they said Within 24 hours you should receive a temporary credit of $70 and we will process the claim with more details and add or subtract what ever is needed.
But the story went a different way, instead of getting any cash, I received an email that your claim was successful and a temporary credit of $70 will be added to your account, but that never happened instead around 6 days later a debit appeared in my account, and now today around 10 days later I was curios to see the $70 which was credited and all I see is a debit of $70 so now I'm down $140.
So I went and called back the claims dept and asked what's happening here I'm suppose to get a credit of $70 not a debit, so after 25min of being on hold she got back to me saying it can take up to 30 to process this claim, but in this case I went ahead and pushed it to be only 1-5 days as it's a mistake on our end.

Am I suppose to wait out the 1-5 business days or is it normal to have to wait 5 days for them to return the stolen money?
Any thoughts on what to do?

That's what they told me on the phone, that's how the branch will verify the claim of mine, by counting all the cash from that atm.

If you're lucky, you weren't the first person to have this happen, and they'll find a lot more than $70 extra ;D

1. The ATM would have shut down after eating the first persons money.
2. Don't you think the guy who's $1,000 are in the machine won't file a claim?
3. The OP only claimed $70, not the higher amount.

P.s. I always tell my toddler that the ATM is the machine that eats money.

So I should claim a bit more and in the worst case claim I wasn't sure how much as I was expecting the atm to count my money for me! ;)

Lol

I knew it was to good to be true for the atm to hold your money for free.. now it's payback time. :)

Almost like TD bank with those penny arcade machines which started to take maasuer on all your transactions, and then shut down.

And then it spits it out....
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

In eretz yisroel there was an ATM on eli hakohen that always took extra money. I was told to never use it so instead I had to walk far to a working one

What do you mean by withdrawal? That they thought you took more?

I always wondered if im suppose to count my cash after getting it from the atm? I guess I will start counting my money, don't want to be losing small bits at a time without noticing.
