Any word on which routes will get 787 service?
A big TA friend of mine told me LY CEO told him HKG will be the first route, but still its just hearsay

Same here - I spoke to a senior flight attendant yesterday - he said that internally they heard that the first flight is HKG, and the second will be LAX.

So basically, HKG to compete with the CX A350 and LAX to compete with the UA 787 to SFO. No competition in NYC....

Evidently it's not the chareidim flying the NY route they're trying to woo. It's the Israeli businessmen that would otherwise fly CX, and the LA and West Coast crowd that would otherwise fly UA from SFO.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

This may have something to do with this too - http://www.routesonline.com/news/38/airlineroute/272683/el-al-closing-first-class-bookings-on-selected-777-service-in-w17/

So in other words, pay the low J class price now for a flight to Newark next winter (About $3400) or book at the current award rates for business and you very likely will end up in luxury seats. ;)

And EWR that will be getting Polaris 777-300.

Hard to believe LY is so aware of the competiton

LAX is probably second to save on fuel costs

They would need 3/4 planes for LAX alone plus 3/4 for HKG, and they are only getting 15

why3/4 planes for lax for a nice part of the year its only 3 times a week so 1 plane is enough and for the times when its 5 times a week 2 planes are enough

+1 shouldn't be more than 1-2 planes for any route that only has 3-6 flights a week.

Huh? Why do they need more than 2 per route? The max frequency on those routes is once daily.

It's a 15 hour flight plus 3 hours at least between flights that a total of 36 hours from TLV to TLV, at this same time (if the flights are daily) there is another 2 flights that left TLV since the first aircraft left TLV

In 36 hrs, only one more aircraft departed from TLV....
