Samsung 850 evo should do the job for you. CMIIW, IINM the fastest drives are probably not worth it if your network, processors, ram, etc. are not top notch as well. You might be getting a slight incremental bump compared to the Samsung Evo, but you'll be paying a lot for that small bump.

First of all the other parts are top notch, dual nic gigabit ethernet, 6th Gen I7 6700, 16gb Ram..

So those are top notch.


This is being used for a Schoolwide plex project (plex the media streaming/home server software) seeing as the videos will be direct playing (as opposed to being transcoded) the bottleneck will very likely be the hard drive, but you are correct - in this case it would seem that if the evo actually gets the performance it claims - (520 /540) we don't plan on having more than 50 clients on simultaneously for now.  Each clients stream would average at 500kbps -1mbps - so we should be good to go if the evo realtime performance matches the specs.

And a shame that SSD's have really gone up in price, I bought the 500gb evo a few months ago for $130, the 120gb version is now $95
