I guess the reverse can also apply, something people don't do... that a Rav told you to do.

The Rov gives us his whiskey because he doesn't sell it

To be fair he doesn't really drink or buy it, but all the miniatures and stuff he gets on Purim he gives to us.
I'm not who you think I am.

Can't disagree enough with this. Unless you're in a tiny apartment or working with a team of ppl it's probably untrue, and it devalues the hard work of the women in your life

My neighbors bought a new garbage can for Pesach.  My favorite example of how we've gotten out of hand.

I don't know about giving it a time limit. But people clean WAY MORE than they HAVE to.   If they choose to combine spring cleaning with Pesach cleaning thats fine. But so many people and women specifically have such bad thoughts associated with Yom Tov because of this that I think it's not doing anyone any good.

It was out of hand because they thought they HAD to put their garbage away for pesach and buy a new one.  They thought that was normal. I call that out of hand.

You mean instead of just wrapping it up with 5 layers of extra heavy duty aluminum foil?  ;D

FTR, we have a separate can for Pesach, so no need to buy a new one or to wrap one. :)
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Why do you need one at all though?

Wouldn't bleach (or something similar) take care of it ?

Much simpler/cheaper than buying or wrapping.

I couldn't agree more. It's important to know what's halacha and what is just spring cleaning. Pesach takes a lot of work, but I think people are more scared of it because they do so much extra!

I just think it's sad how many women have negative feelings towards the holidays. Poor Pesach has earned such a bad rap and for no good reason.  We're doing it to ourselves. Can't imagine the reaction of "oh Gd, Pesach is coming" is what Hashem had in mind about all this.

Humans used to not have so many things (to clean).
Now we own so much stuff that it takes forever if you want to clean everything spotless.
I'm not who you think I am.
