Any Free Program Which Can remove the Time-Stamp(Date imprint)on my pictures?

Did a quick google search all I could find was programs which wanted money to run.
 Are there any programs out there which can edit some pictures for free?
 I know you can use paint or crop a picture, but what if I wanted to remove the date stamp and blend it in the picture?
Probably more of a photo-shop idea.

And nope. I never understood why people would do that, the info is baked into the file anyway. Why slap something permanent and distracting on your photograph?
