I had a hilton card for a couple of months and then applied for a starwood. The day i got approved for the starwood i called to transfer 90 percent of the hilton credit line to the starwood card because i was planning on cancelling the hilton. The next day i got f/r. So transfering credit to a new account may also trigger a f/r.

Having a credit line greater than $24,999 on 1 card.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

It's great we know exactly what that amount is.

Really? Why?

I'm assuming this is only when you don't notify them in advance that you plan to travel.

Are you talking about an amex card or any CC with a $25,000 limit

I have a $36,000 amex card with no FR, thats why i asked. Amex has access to your CR, so i am sure they can find many reasons to check your finances.....

Just because it's a trigger doesn't mean everyone gets F/R'd once their CL passed $25k.

Then it must be my 832 FICO score that protects me from these goyim, and the dreaded FR.............

Am I setting myself up for a F/R?

I purchased rangers (NHL) first round tickets with my SPG card the total came to $5,000 for all 4 home games. After the rangers were eliminated they only played two of there 4 games so I got a credit of $2,500. Amex said that they can send me a check of my credit as soon as they complete an investigation.

Should I be nervous?

I don't think so.

There are at least 2 reports in the forums about it. Can't look for links now.

I did come across that one, forgot to post, Thanks.

I have also seen reports both here on DD and on FT of an FR being triggered after a charge overseas.
When you call amex they tell you that you do NOT need to notify them when traveling.

Maybe its a conspiracy theory but some folks on FT believe that Amex uses the oppurtunity of you being out of the country to trigger the FR and shut down your accounts because you couldnt comply in time... ::)

I've experienced a "partial FR" when my CL was 12K and I called in to increase it to 36K, this was in the evening and they told me that a "certain department" was going to make the decision. Then about a week later I got a letter stating that in order for me to qualify for the CL increase, they would need to review my finances... along with all the FR papers and forms. All along my account was active at 12K CL.
Ignored the letter, and about a year later called in and they increased me on the spot to 28K and have since spent more than that amount (never exceeding 14k at once though).
Now I'm reading that over 24,999 it's a trigger, but if I call them to reduce it, wouldn't that trigger as well?

How about telling them you want to move some f the CL to another card?

Is moving a few k to another card still an option?

Maybe...
But wouldn't I have gotten FR'd already with what I wrote above? And if I didn't yet BH, what will prompt them to all of a sudden?
