Am I the only one who has no sympathy for this guy?
Nope. I wanted UA to pay but didn't want him getting a penny.

will he go after the chicago police or whoever they are?
Nope. As per his attorney, he will not peruse charges against them, as United has taken full responsibility.

Nah, I'm right there with you. He was not treated properly, but he was being a complete PITA on the plane, and asking for it.

That was the whole point. It was hush money to get the story out of the news already.

Any reason this thread is in GD instead of JS?

I mean, clearly from his history this is not an regular upstanding citizen.
Maybe he even did this for the money, who knows?

Still, they were too rough with him.

I think his history gives some context to why he was so adamant about seeing his patients the next day. if he was given a second chance to be a doctor, don't you think he'd try extra hard to be there for his patients?  He was all set to deplane initially until they told him the next flight would be the next day, so I don't know how you could think he was doing it for the money.

I never said he was doing it for the money. I said who knows and quite frankly who cares.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Is this a positive outcome?

I like the fact that they bring up those ridiculous "contracts of carriage".

Love it, its time for all companies to end these ridiculous one sided contracts.

Won't end them, but given that these contracts are "contracts of adhesion", and I haven't read any of them all the way through, but from what I understand they are quite unilateral, in that the Airline can reneg on it (or at least is not obligated to much, if anything), but not the consumer, it's about time those facts are brought to proper light, so that the airlines are shamed into changing them into contracts that provide some kind of guarantees and protections for the consumer.
