Help...Southwest 60K miles expired...
« on: April 13, 2017, 12:46:08 AM »

Just found out when logging in trying to use the miles to book a ticket.

According to Dan, http://www.dansdeals.com/archives/50750, the car rental receipt trick worked for AA and UA. Does it work with Southwest as well?

Thanks!

Crediting a backdated car rental (from before the expiration date) to Southwest will probably reinstate your account, because you'll have activity on a date before the expiration (even if it posts afterwards). No need to call and ask questions, and draw unneeded attention to what you're doing.

Anyone who's had their southwest points reinstated retroactively, will you please share which car rental in particular worked for you? I tried avis but no go ... 66k points in the line for me, tia.

+1 Do not call Southwest. It's an automated system. It will work itself out. Just call the car rental company. You need a receipt? There's a whole thread for that.

Forfeited close to 60k points due to lack of activity in account. Noticed just 2 days after expiration, but hit a wall trying to get them reinstated with Southwest.
Was thrilled to chance upon this thread, realizing I could still recover my points relatively easy, I had an Avis rental in my brother's name, (same last) but Avis refused to post it claiming the name on the receipt/invoice must match the name on the Southwest account.
So I agreed for a trade in the past car rental thread, and had someone credit their Alamo rental to my SW, Alamo stated a 60-90 day posting timeframe, but it's 88 days now and nothing yet.
So I'm wondering, the commentators who reported successful reinstatement after crediting a past rental, which company, specifically,   worked for them?

I had a ton of Philippine Airlines Mabuhah miles set to expire. I rented a car on New Years Eve, drove it around the block and returned it 5 minutes later.

Just tell Avis the SW account is in your brother's name.

I did that with Alamo and it still didn't show up in his SW account. Alamo sent it over again and said to ask SW why it's not showing up yet. I guess we will wait for OP to update us.

I did budget with a couple other people. They don't ask for name. So far nothing posted yet either..

I submitted a national receipt almost 6 weeks ago.
Still nothing.
