Love this idea, but I wonder how long it will take for airlines to get on board with it.
Memories last forever, make them while you can.

To me it's a XERO as Lauri says. There are many reasons....one of them, this being in one person's hands. The airlines will never agree, especially if this can be copied easily, so why tie the knot with him?

I do however see a future where luggage manufacturers will embed RFID chips in bags, where it will be owned by NOBODY,  there will only be a standard on how it should work, and this will come from the airlines forming some kind of alliance to standardize this.

He's the Regal Wings CEO and also has GeeFi in production. Very talented but very arrogant. His GTTFP hashtag says it all.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

He's offering equity for references to airline decision makers. But why them? What do they have to offer? He's a businessmen in the field himself.

My feeling is that he really wants the connections for his other company (Regal Wings)

There already is. This concept isn't new, they didn't invent anything.

Why so? Any unattended bag will be scanned and the owner found in a second

for one:
Checking in multiple bags? Traveling with the family? You can get as many One Bag Tags as you need. Switching bags? No worries, One Bag Tag will change bags in 30 seconds.
as compared to the current tamper-proof tape used in bag tags

also, how comfortable are they with that level of in-flight gps tracking being available that easily?

Nothing is tamper proof, prob easier to switch the tape than this though.
Also why do you think there will be in flight tracking?

Qantas and other airlines offer permanent bag tags.

Permanent Bag Tags - Q Bag Tags
Permanent Bag Tags – Q Bag Tags
The Q Bag Tag is a permanent electronic bag tag designed to facilitate a faster and easier baggage check-in at domestic airports.*

There's no longer a need to attach a temporary bag tag each time you fly domestically - just drop your bags and go.

What's more, if you check-in online or with your mobile before you arrive at the airport, you'll be able to go directly to the Bag Drop.

With a sleek design by Marc Newson, each tag contains world-first technology that synchronizes your details on your boarding pass or Qantas card with your baggage.
