This is really ridiculous. Why can't they just refund the points if the flight gets cancelled to avoid all the gamers. Or better yet, allow the points to be redeemed at a value of 2 cents without having to layout the points, like the CSR.

That hunch is belied by the fact that multiple reps at AmEx seem to be saying something changed on 4.11.
Anyone else here redeem points after 4/11 and try to chat or call to get them manually rebated?
Redeemed on 4/12. Called in yesterday and got them rebated manually.
Manual posting is *very* rare, and that was before this apparent new rule.
How exactly was this being "gamed"?
